Amateur Porn More and More Like Studio Porn
Bear with me, this is a bit of a rant…
I’m a big fan of the online amateur porn stuff. The sex always seems to be hotter and the guys seem to be more excited about having sex. Studio porn is often so over-directed that it amounts to nothing more than pornbots going through the motions, showing no emotion or interest in what they’re doing.
I have a lot of people ask me if I like the amateur porn thing because of the supposedly “straight” orientation of the guys on screen. At first, yes. Four or five years ago, I was totally into the idea that Sean Cody and Corbin Fisher attracted straight college guys and paid them enough money to suck another guy off, or even fuck another dude. It wasn’t long before that whole fantasy came crumbling down around me.

In fact, the guys that really seemed like they were most likely gay in real life were the most fun to watch. Stands to reason then, that I really started to like CollegeDudes247 whose porn studletts were not operating under the straight guise.
But, one online amateur site seems to be pushing the boundaries between amateur and studio. You all know who I’m talking about: Randy Blue. WTF? Randy’s feature length porn movies A Taste of Blue and Alley Cats were absolutely no different from studio porn. Sure, the sex was a tad bit hotter. But the failed attempts at delivering poorly scripted dialogue sure reeks of studio porn, if you ask me!
And now, Randy Blue’s studio theatrics seem to be seeping into his regular, weekly videos too. Mostly I’m willing to forgive the “dialogue” when it’s Xander Scott or someone else adorable trying to act. (Xander isn’t half bad at acting, and maybe my crush on him means I’m more forgiving.) But last week’s video of Reese Rideout fucking Dustin River barely differs from standard studio porn.
The premise is that one of Reese’s “fans” sneaks into Reese’s house. There’s a bunch of poor dialogue, including “Well, now that you’re here, I guess I could give you more than an autograph.” Seriously?! Gag me with a rusty dildo. Puhlease!
And btw, when did Reese start using cliched dirty talk? “Suck that cock you dirty boy.” I can just imagine the Randy Blue director feeding Reese that line from off camera. That’s exactly the opposite of what I expect to find in my amateur porn. I want amateur porn to be two hot guys (preferably college hotties) getting it on with little to no direction/editing. Randy Blue is light years past that stage. Corbin Fisher is approaching the same. Sean Cody still has its little nuggets of pure amateur goodness. Chaosmen has deteriorated past the point of me caring anymore. Mike Hancock barely exists anymore (and even its hay day was known for overly scripted scenes too).
Alas, I’m still pulled back to the appeal of CollegeDudes247. I love their Outtakes stuff where we see how horny these guys are for each other off the official camera. I think that’s what keeps Sean Cody a bit more “amateur” for me too — the Behind the Scenes stuff that usually totally rocks!
Maybe I’m being too critical of Randy Blue. I just don’t want his site to set the bar and have the rest of the amateur sites head in the more produced, more scripted direction. Because then, what would be the difference between studio DVDs and online amateur stuff? Almost, nothing.
